Fun Monday 120307

This week's Fun Monday is hosted by Robinella. She wanted to see the post that we most wanted other people to see again - or for the first time for our newer friends. This is a blog that I originally wrote on my MySpace page before I found out how much easier this is.

Jimmy(originally posted 12/15/06 on MySpace and in April on Blogger)

I spent a great deal of time trying to decide what to call this blog.

This has been a very stressful week, just not for me. It has been stressful, though, for a great many people that I care about and I just feel so danged helpless.

Wednesday evening a friend of mine died. It was not expected and, unlike some people I have known who were ill for a long time, it was not welcome.

It's kind of ironic because my friend was ill and we sort of expected him to die early - you know, before all the rest of us do. We just expected it to be his disease that killed him and not a horrific traffic accident.

It is my nature to find bright spots. Sometimes I find this comforting and sometimes I find it incredibly annoying. Any way you cut it, though, it's what I do.

Sooooo- it was a single vehicle accident and no one else was injured - bright spot.

His widow has faith that is truly strong and deep, along with a church family who will be with her every step of the way - bright spot.

He evidently was either dead when his vehicle hit the tree or death was instantaneous - bright spot.

We all have wonderful memories, a lot of which make us hysterical, by which to remember him - bright spot.

And last, but most certainly not least, he is with God - incredibly luminous glorious and radiant bright spot.

We loved you, Jimmy

What beautiful sentiment and a loving tribute to your friend.

Life would not be worth living if we couldn't find those bright spots, S. And, how wonderful to see the good in every situation. My aunt & uncle lost a daughter at 2, but her death saved their doomed marriage. Silver linings exist EVERYWHERE.

also appropriate as it is the first anniversary (soon) of your loss.

Those bright spots keep us sane. My heart goes out to the widow and all those who loved your friend.

Great tribute, but I was slightly freaked out. We lost a friend on the 16th last year it was a single vehicle accident, he hit a tree as well and was dead upon impact or seconds afterwards,we too have laughable memories of him.
I love your bright spots!

A great tribute to your friend. It is wonderful to think of the bright spots in any tragedy or disappointment; it helps up cope, and it helps others as well.

I try to find bright spots in life too. Sometimes that seems impossible to me. I'm glad you were able to during this situation.

This is a really sad post and it must have been a hard time for you. But, you must be a really special person to be able to see so many bright spots.

Reading this post is a bright spot. Thank you

Very meaningful post. It is tough losing a close friend. It is even tougher to remain positive about it or at least be able to find a bright spot. But you appear to have done that. Well done!

A wonderfully moving tribute to your friend. As always, the biggest bright spot is to remember our loved ones' lives not their deaths. Well done. :)

Nice post (just getting around to Fun Monday) - and a sweet way to remind us all how to focus on some positives in the face of great loss.
