This recipe is in honor of Laurie over at the Three Dog Blog. She was mentioning her experience with Harvey Wallbangers and it reminded me of this cake.
The alcohol in the cake cooks off but the booze in the glaze doesn't. Feel free to adjust the amount of vodka in the glaze.
Harvey Wallbanger Cake
1 pkg. (2 layer size) orange cake mix
1 pkg. (3 3/4 oz.) instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 c. cooking oil
1/2 c. orange juice
1/2 c. Galliano
2 T. vodka
GLAZE:
1 c. powdered sugar
1 T. orange juice
1 T. Galliano
1 t. vodka
In large mixer bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Add the eggs, oil, the 1/2 c orange juice, the 1/2 c Galliano and the 2 T. vodka.
Beat on low speed for 1/2 minute; beat on medium speed for 5 minutes, scraping bowl frequently.
Pour into greased and floured 10" bundt pant; bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Or, pour into 2 greased and floured 9" round cake pants; bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
Cool in pan(s) 10 minutes; remove to rack and pour on glaze while cake is still warm.
To make glaze: combine all ingredients.
NOTE: If serving this to active alcoholics, you can make enough glaze to fill the well of the bundt cake. That way nobody's cake is too dry (or so I've heard).

This cake looks good.
Ooh. A drink cake. Puppy would love to partake!!
Thanks for such a sweet comment today. And, I must say if your daughter is like me, it shows that you must be a great mother! And, I have no doubt you are!
ooooohhhh yum. i think i could make that and not end up at my high school yearbook advisor's house.
thank you!
funny coincidence--i made an irish whiskey cake over the weekend. it, too, is baked in a bundt pan and has a whiskey glaze. it was *really* good except for one thing: it called for caraway seed. caraway isn't sweet--it's sort of a rye-bread thing--so that seemed a little odd.
but i think i would make it again and maybe substitute poppy seed.
thanks for this!
This looks awesome, I am going to try it, after I get some Galliano and some vodka, two to the alcoholic beverages we don't have on hand. Hmm...a trip to the liquor store, what else can I get? Thanks for sharing this.
