Maple Leaves

I have been as remiss at downloading photos as I have been about blogging.  This is from October of 2010 at the Amazingly Fun Farm corn maze.  There have been enormous changes since then, the most obvious being the height of the boy and the length of his mother's hair.  I will attempt, during this month, to provide photographic evidence of this.

I love autumn.  I love the cooler weather.  I love the comfort foods that make your house smell like your mom's house smelled.  I love living in an area where there are actually trees that change color.  I grew up in northern California.  We had holly trees that didn't change.  We had evergreens that didn't change.  We had oak trees that turned a yucky brown and cluttered the yard until my brother or I was forced to rake them.

Ah, but the Wagner sisters, who lived one street over and 1/2 a block down, had maple trees.  They had three maple trees that grew in the dirt between the sidewalk and the street.  Their house was on the main road up to Deer Park School so all of the walking schoolchildren, needing colored leaves for their autumn projects, would seize upon whatever leaves had fallen or whatever leaves they could reach.  I was fortunate.  I was tall and my brother was even taller.  We always got leaves for our projects and my mom made sure we always asked the Wagners first.

Autumn colours are the best, all the reds and oranges are somehow comforting as it begins to get cooler!

I remember those Maples...
and the Wagners....Fall here in the evergreen state is very colorful with quaking aspen and big leaf (24") maple.

Thanks

We have a tree in the front of our property (I can't remember what it is) but the leaves come down and they are larger than my head! Plus - they are a beautiful yellow. But - we also have plenty of Cedar trees too and they shed garbage.

I love the fall weather too and the colorful leaves are one of my most favorite parts. They have been fun to seek this year, lol.

I'm going to miss the leaves of the red bud that was in our front yard.
We knew it was sick - but we didn't know how badly until Wally cut it down. It was tottering on one good root -- shocked that the tree had actually stood up!

So -- good bye lavender spring blossoms... and beautiful huge leaves.

Love fall --

I also love the autumn colours, although I enjoy all the colours in nature. So pretty. :-) The autumn colours make me feel warm and cozy.

Great photo of your guys, Sandy. I had a good system for downloading and organizing photos with old computer. Not with new one and Windows 8--yet! Maybe this daily blog for a month will help me here.

Ditto on the reasons to love fall!

I read Faye's blog about your every Day in November challenge and because I love November I took it on. I have done two bits of gratitude and seem to find it easy to think of more.

I am also a wheneverly blogger and perhaps this will help me become better at daily blogger (or it won't!)

Cheers, and thanks for a good idea

Great time of year. Color Sunday is spectacular when the quaking aspens turn to gold. "For those who do not like change, wonder what what they think of autumn?"

Fall is my favorite time of year - mostly because it's such a relief from the heat and humidity of summer. Our trees don't really change colors (there are a few that do). Mostly they're green until they turn brown and fall off. The distance between those two aren't long enough for any kind of color to develop.
