How much of a slacker does it make me that I turned an 8 year old loose to paint the kitchen wall behind the fridge so that I could play on the computer?

That makes you a smart grandma. It also qualifies you to work in Nike management.
You are a brave grandma. My grandson would have painted the fridge along with everything else.

Dude, that's what kids are for! I can't wait until Aaron's big enough to do the dishes and vacuum.
All i can say is.......MOTHER!!
I think it was brilliant. The painting needed to be done. The child needed to be entertained. The computer needed to have time spent with it.
