This week's Fun Monday is hosted by Lisa at Lisa's Chaos (and judging by her photos, it's a lovely chaos, indeed). Lisa challenged us with this:
Let’s meet your pets. I think most of us have at least one pet and I would like to see your fluffy or scaly pal. If you don’t have a camera you can tell us about him/her/them. If you don’t have a pet tell us about a pet you had or a pet you want. If for some weird reason you hate all animals we want to know why gosh-dang-it.
I am going to limit myself to the pets currently living and currently living with us. Here is our Duck. Duck is a Catahoula/Sharpei cross who just turned 9 in September. She is the only dog I have ever raised from puppyhood. She is the queen of the bitches (literally) and a tennis ball retriever par excellence. She also has never lost a game of tug-o-war although we don't play as hard as we used to because of her arthritis. She is from a litter of 9 and all of her littermates were blond. She was the Ugly Duckling. Now she is The Duck.
Next we have Holly, complete name Holly Farms Chicken Lips. Holly is an American Boxer and will be 6 in March. Holly was given to us when she was 8 months old by my daughter, Julie. Duck was living with Julie at the time as a guardian while Juls' husband was out to sea. We thought we were ok being dog free (we drove truck cross country at the time). Julie didn't. She gave Lexy to her dad as a Christmas gift. He was not pleased. The dog was not returnable.
How can you not love this face, however? We changed her name, put her on the truck and we all adapted. Now, if we were ever to raise another dog from a pup? It would probably be a Boxer. She is just a sweetheart, albeit a counter-surfing sweetheart!
Last, and maybe least, we have Buddy. Buddy is a Sheltie cross and will be 1 this month. Buddy belonged to a friend of mine who found out, post-Buddy, that her landlord did not allow dogs. Buddy and his mom had to be relocated. I declined to take Buddy's mom (we had a personality conflict) but I could not let Buddy be euthanized. When he came to live with us, his name was Hercules. I tried to change it to Fred, but Fred just didn't stick. My husband started calling him Buddy because my husband calls all unnamed males Buddy. I went to call the dogs that night and opened the front door. "Duck! Buddy! Holly!" Buddy Holly? It stuck.

Buddy at 8 months
I hope you enjoyed meeting my current crew - always subject to additions, you know! Please have fun visiting everyone else today!
Update:Lil man got up this morning and I was browsing while he got ready for school. He asked where his picture was. I told him he wasn't a dog but he told me that he was, in fact, my 4th pet. He's right, so here's his picture, too. He was not 8 months old, though, he was 7 years.
My best buddy at 7 years

I miss having a dog. If we had some land ... and not in the city limits (the city snuck up on us... and the open fields have
the hubby was raised with boxers.
I suspect if we ever have another dog that is what we'll get.
How could we help but enjoy meeting them Sandy?
How sweet!
Buddy Holly! How funny! Glad Holly is out of the doghouse so to speak. Duck and Buddy look like sweethearts too.
Always subject to additions.....hmmmmmmm......thinks about the possibilities ;-)
Hahaha, very cute story of your dogs ! and I noticed that they all have an eypatch ! and Buddy Holly sounds good when you shout it in the neighborhood !
The Duck is an unusual looking dog! Cute though. I always like a good story on how people end up with their dogs and how they decided their names as well. Buddy Holly is cute.
And such a good looking crew you have there too!
Very funny! Wasn't there a dog like that in one of the old black and white comedy series???
Awwww...such sweet babies. I love names (and the nicknames) you've given them.
Duck is so not ugly~ just look at that sweet face. I don't think I could cope with three dogs! I just doggy sit my niece's Dalmatian these days.
Oh so wonderful! Love the names too. Duck is great. I love the markings. Holly is adorable as well as Buddy. You have three great additions to your family!!!
Have a great Fun Monday!
they can't be ugly if you love them. love makes them beautiful.
what great dogs....
Is it terrible that I've NEVER seen Man from Snowy River???
Guess I need to get moving on this one...

I love how Buddy got his name. Your furry kids are so cute! (And of course your unfurry pet too.) :^P
They are all so cute!
(And The Duck- NOT ugly!)
Lisa
What a cute bunch! Especially the little human pet.
Nice tribute to your pets, they are very cute. It is so cute when they lose their teeth. Oh and the dogs are adorable too. Our nephew has a boxer, Molly and she is like a big baby and the sweetest thing.
They are so cute!!! I bet Buddy is a real character. Very nice to see picks of the furry members of your family.
Awww Lil man is adorable! As are all your pets. Love the 'counter-surfing' and 'tennis ball retriever' LOL
Duck is such a cutie. I love his markings. And yes, Lil man definitely qualifies as a 4th pet!
Cute pups! All four of them!
I'm so glad your grandson appreciates his position in your pack. And, your ugly duckling is one fine looking lady.
Lovely...I wanna play with them all! I need to get myself another "baby"!
I love your dogs..especially Buddy!! Those are my favorites..I grew up with boxers!! My Baron is a counter surfer also...drives me nuts...oh and my son is 7!!!
I think they're so cute! They all have so much character. I like your names, too!
I love the names. Duck! Too cute! And your 4th pet? He's a handsome one! ;-)
You have fabulous pets with fabulous names. The fourth pet is rather cute too.
Ella, my daughter, says that they are soooooooooo cute!
I think I'd like a cat named Duck! Love the dogs. We really do need one.
Love those names. My Mom has a Buddy.
Duck is adorable. Buddy Holly was always playing in our house when I was growing up...(Thanx dad) He would totally get a kick out of how you named Buddy!!!
Thanks to all of you for your lovely comments. Duck's name did lead to a little confusion. When my grandson started school and the teacher asked, "What does the duck say?" My grandson of course answered, "Woof, woof."
I loved that you didn't let l'il man get lost in our pet orgy today. Looking in those faces on a daily basis would crack me up--especially Chicken Lips in profile.
Great pics of your dogs, we're dog lovers too! I love that your son thinks of himself as a pet too, that's so funny!
Looks like some great dogs you have there. That last pet of yours....he sure has a great smile :-)
All very cute!! The Duck is quite distinguished!! Many of my relatives have boxers and they love them!
Too cute that the young man wanted to be included. Don't blame him a bit!
He might not eat dog food, tho.
They are all too cute! I kind of like the last one, your best buddy...now he is adorable! :)
I am totally bummed that I missed Fun Monday this week, since I have such lovely animal people at my house. I like your's too.
Love the pics :)
Ahhh they all look lovely. Miss M (nearly 3) thought the name Duck was hilarious. Fab.
Awwww...such sweet furbabies. I just love their names. Your last pet, has a darling smile. My son is 7, too, and those toothless ones, are the best.
Great pictures - I've never seen a Catahoula before. i was going to guess that it was a cattle dog of some kind.
The new Fun Monday topic is now available. :)
