Telling on Myself

I decided to whip up some oatmeal/coconut/date/walnut cookies this afternoon. I had noticed yesterday, when I was looking for something else, that there was a container of oatmeal in the back of the cupboard. I reached up, grabbed it and opened it. It was about a third full of oatmeal and no bugs. Always a good start. I poured out the oatmeal into a measuring cup and found a coupon in the bottom of the box.Notice anything odd about this coupon? Wait, let me reopen my editing junk. Hang on just a couple.
Ok, so my editting skills are not up to this today....that expiration date? Yeah, you read it right. Expires 12/31/90.

Childhood Embarassment

When I was a little girl, I lived in Northern California. This is NEVER to be confused with the LaLaLand part of California. There was a children's TV show on our local NBC affiliate - yes, Julie, there was TV when I was a little girl - called the Mayor Art Show.

My best friend was Robin. For her 4th or 5th birthday, her parents took a bunch of us over the bridge to the big city where we got to be on the Mayor Art Show. It was more than exciting.

During part of the show, Mayor Art talked to the kids on the "City Council" and just generally chit chatted. This day, he asked if any of us had a joke. I did.

"Do you know how the moron killed himself?"

"No, Sandy, how did the moron kill himself?"

"He was smoking on top of the Empire State Building and threw the wrong butt over."

The look on Mayor Art's face was priceless.

The look on my mom's face when I got home? Not so priceless.

The look on my daughter's face when she heard this story for the first time two days ago? Priceless.

Your children can ALWAYS embarass you!

I went to pick up little man from school today. While I was waiting in line, I was cleaning out the center console on the car and talking to my daughter on the phone. The car is mine but my daughter had been using it for the last 6 or 7 years. I recently took it back as my other car is broken.

I pulled out numerous old bank slips, receipts, etc. along with some tampons, condoms, and sunscreen.

Hurray, all those lectures on preparedness, safety, and protection did take hold!

I was putting all of those things back in the console so that I could give them to her later when the principal opened the car door so that my grandson could get in.

Nice.
