I Own Pets Why?

I left the house to:

  1. have lunch with my daughter

  2. go to the post office

  3. go to the bank

  4. go to the gas station and put gas in the car since we are driving to Abilene tomorrow to pick up the lil man.

  5. go to WalHell to buy treats for the dogs.

I came home to find the styrofoam tray that had once held the sirloin steaks for tonight's dinner strewn across my house. We have not been eating a lot of steak lately but I was gonna cook something special for my husband tonight. Refer to #4.

Buddy, who was in the crate because he is not trustworthy, is innocent (at least of this).

Duck, who I am sure helped destroy the steaks, is too short to have reached the steaks from where I left them thawing.

Holly, ah yes, Holly. Holly is tall. Holly is stupid. Holly is well fed.

I should just thank God that she does not have opposable thumbs.

Update:

Here is a picture of Holly in self-imposed timeout. All I said was, "What did you do?" She has not come out since.

Friends

"They color my life with the beautiful hues of friendship. Although we come from different backgrounds and cultures we share the same spirit of friendship."

I received this wonderful award from one of my new friends, Junebug.

I have not been blogging long and it simply amazes me how generous everyone is - with their thoughts, their support, their comments - oh, wait, I guess that would be with their friendship

So, thanks to Junebug for making what was shaping up to be a stressful day be a wonderful day.

And hoping to share some of that same wonderfulness, I would like to share this with Pensieve for actually making me think some of the time, with Swampy just for being Swampy, and with Anglophile Football Fanatic for helping to restore my faith.

Have a great day, y'all!

PS: Just thought I'd share that I now have Vanessa Williams sing "The Colors of the Wind" stuck in my head!

Oh my gosh!

Oh my gosh, I have been so rude! 3 - count 'em - 3 days ago, AFF was nice enough to gift me with this lovely little guy!

I have been so wrapped up in myself that I forgot to say THANK YOU!

I also forgot to pass it on but better late than never! And it's not yet All Hallow's Eve so I think I'm still all right.

Without further ado, (I almost just typed without further adieu, what the heck?), I am passing this wonderful little guy on to:

Crystal at
Boobs, Injuries and Dr. Pepper for making me snort coffee through my nose on more than one occasion - and for making my WalMart look normal.

and

Junebug at
God Put A Smile Upon My Face because the name of her blog always puts a smile on my face, too.

The Sally Field Blog

Ooh, ooh, you really like me! You really, really like me!

Or at least Hootin' Anni does! Just look what I got today - I am so excited that I can't hardly see straight and yes, I know it's lame to be this excited about getting a cyber-gift from someone I hardly know, but I think that is the point - to reach out in friendship to someone that is not already your friend.

So, in that spirit, I am going to give this gift also, to:
That's it. Enjoy your gift, ladies, and for those of you who are spicier than others, that would be a cinnamon candied apple
.
If you do decide to regift this, I would be more than pleased. Just follow the directions at Anni's 'cause she explained it so much better than I did.

Previous 4ths, part 2

Same child. Different year.

When CJ was 5, he was visiting his Grampits and me for part of the summer. On the 4th of July, our boss' family always has a HUGE party with massive amounts of explosives - I do love living in Texas!

We stopped by for a bit and CJ got to meet their grandkids. The littlest one had been watching "Meet the Fockers" and was just running around saying, "ahss - whole" and making her Grandma nuts.

The boys, who are 2 and 3 years older than CJ, had control of the lighting devices and were very busy igniting the world (and the wrecking yard next door, but that's another story). They had the very enthusiastic assistance of their little sister/cousin who was 4.

That just left one little princess, who is CJ's age or maybe 6 months older. Every time we turned around, they were hand in hand, heading off into the dark - to see the goats, to see the cows, to go "adventuring." It took one full grown man all night just to ride herd on these two little adventurers.

CJ just moved back here and he and the little princess are still - well, not hand in hand - but the last time I saw them together, she was driving her ATV and he was sitting behind her. We grow our princesses tough out here.

This story continues when we got home that night but that's it for now.

Have a happy, semi-sane, and ultimately safe 4th of July! and kiss a Veteran!

When last I wrote regarding the move, it was last Tuesday and the move was scheduled for Friday. It did not happen Friday. It did happen yesterday!

We crossed one state highway and 4 sets of railroad tracks.

Then we (that would be the royal we- thank you, Jason) made 3 right turns, including one into a driveway and then he BACKED IT into the yard!

I opened the door cautiously - after everyone left - and not one thing moved or fell or was broken! God loves me and I love Him!

Thanks to everyone involved especially Jason (Moose), Wade, Clay (Ed) and Jason (Bubbles) and a huge thanks to Jacky and Johnnie.
