Anyway, the doctors at the ER prescribed alternating Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours and some prescription cough syrup. Lil Man, as further proof that he is like me, puked every time we gave him Motrin. We just stayed with the Tylenol, the Meltaways.

Have you tasted these?
Has any adult ever tasted these?
They are gross!!!!
We do not cajole, jolly, persuade, disguise or otherwise try to make medicine tempting. We tell the kiddo he's sick and that he has to take this stuff because the doctor said. Having said that, it broke my heart when my baby's Lil Man, who is made of such strong stuff, had tear running down his face when he put these in his mouth.
I went to our medicine cabinet, pulled out the regular Tylenol, checked the dosage and, the next time he needed medicine, gave him the option of the Meltaways or of trying to just swallow a pill. No chewing, no tasting but you had to swallow fast or it would melt.

Success on the very first try! No gagging, no puking, no whining, and no drama with taking his medication ever since. Hurray for the Lil Man!
And, evidently, hurray for me. ChrisB, at MsCellania (I love that title) designed this awesome award and I am one of the first recipients! Thank you, ChrisB.

As soon as this fog in my head clears, I will be awarding this to some of the other terrific grandmas out there.
