Childhood Embarassment

When I was a little girl, I lived in Northern California. This is NEVER to be confused with the LaLaLand part of California. There was a children's TV show on our local NBC affiliate - yes, Julie, there was TV when I was a little girl - called the Mayor Art Show.

My best friend was Robin. For her 4th or 5th birthday, her parents took a bunch of us over the bridge to the big city where we got to be on the Mayor Art Show. It was more than exciting.

During part of the show, Mayor Art talked to the kids on the "City Council" and just generally chit chatted. This day, he asked if any of us had a joke. I did.

"Do you know how the moron killed himself?"

"No, Sandy, how did the moron kill himself?"

"He was smoking on top of the Empire State Building and threw the wrong butt over."

The look on Mayor Art's face was priceless.

The look on my mom's face when I got home? Not so priceless.

The look on my daughter's face when she heard this story for the first time two days ago? Priceless.

Beautiful, simply beautiful. Reminds me of the time that I told my nun principal that we were going to North Carolina to stay in my Aunt's condom (instead of condo.)

This is a 'Priceless' story! I love hearing kids jokes, and if one of my kids told me, as a Mom, I wouldn't have been thrilled, but you know what I'd be smiling! :D

Funny story,Sandy!
