Advent Calendars

My daughter has informed me that she would like to see a Christmas post every day between now and Christmas - sort of like a virtual Advent calendar.

I think that I will try and indulge her. Why stop now, right?

However, religiously speaking, Advent starts on Sunday. Calendorically (my own word), it starts tomorrow. I haven't yet decided how rigid I'm gonna be. Ok, now I have. I have a chocolate Advent calendar for my grandson which he should start tomorrow.

I always wanted one of these when I was a little girl and never got one.

When my kids were little, I made a felt banner with peppermint candies ties to it. Beginning December 1, they each got to remove one peppermint each night and voila! when the last peppermint was gone, Christmas was here!

This year, I bought an Advent calendar at World Market for lil man. He does not know about it yet so it should be a pleasant surprise tomorrow.

We have a Lego Advent calender for the boys. I think I like the chocolate ones better.

that's a terrific idea. i always loved Advent calendars, but, truth be told, never had the restraint to keep from opening all the little pictures on the very first day.

and if it were chocolate, i'd have even less restraint.

i look forward to your holiday postings!

we are getting our tree tonight--a bit snowstorm expected on saturday.

Dee lish! I am certain he'll love it.

You'd know this: 12 days of Christmas. What do each mean?

We made an Advent Christmas tree and used it several years. You put a new ornament on it every day and there was a Bible verse to go with it. It was cool.

Love the chocolate Advent calendar. I bet he'll be so excited. Speaking of your little man, I had the privilege of teaching him all day today and he was SUCH a honey. What a great personality he has. I really enjoyed him!

Meg - thanks for the compliment on the lil guy. He told me that Laken's mom was his teacher today and that he got a good mark for being kind. Thanks for being kind to him.

Just turned 16 and my daughter asked me just the other day - why don't I get the chocolate calendar anymore?
She saw a wooden one with drawers and asked me to get it and fill it with tiny gifts.
sigh
baby girl, at your age, let's do an extra good deed or an act of kindness every day instead.

I also made those little felt calendars for my kids when they were little but tied different candies to each day. :) I always wanted one of the chocolate ones too.
