I think it's highly inappropriate. I wouldn't care if she looked like a super model or if her husband thinks that about her or any other number of factors -- I think it's inappropriate. But, maybe I'm a dinosaur too. I think it's stuff like being able to get away with things like that that has really chipped away at young people's view of respecting authority. It's all gotten too informal.

Okay, apparently I *am* a dinosaur. ;)Angie @ Many Little Blessingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13846708503551936348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766456357437110766.post-34043619207215408482008-06-17T23:27:00.000-05:002008-06-17T23:27:00.000-05:00I guess it's okay for a spouse of a pastor to call...I guess it's okay for a spouse of a pastor to call 'em Sexy.

But --- who uses shoe polish anymore, anyway. bwaa ha ha ha.

*I'm in the camp that think the kids were probably overstepping their boundaries with a clergy.Pamelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05404943895800549273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766456357437110766.post-56356880355715640612008-06-17T18:04:00.000-05:002008-06-17T18:04:00.000-05:00Kim: I was thinking of "pastor" as an office, not...Kim: I was thinking of "pastor" as an office, not a person who could be sexy.Junebughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14437322290492196588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766456357437110766.post-61847692031204661422008-06-15T12:28:00.000-05:002008-06-15T12:28:00.000-05:00i would roll my eyes.but i woudln't do anything.it...i would roll my eyes.
but i woudln't do anything.

it's very silly. it's inappropriate. but it's not egregious.

my parents were pretty good, when i was growing up, at explaining things to me--the good, the bad, and the ugly--and helping me to make the right decisions and draw the right conclusions. you can't protect children from the world, you can only teach them how to protect themselves.

so i think that means that if Lil Man asks about the words, it becomes "a teachable moment."lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18055442432266567561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766456357437110766.post-33032759940971395492008-06-13T21:36:00.000-05:002008-06-13T21:36:00.000-05:00Hmmm...I have to admit that I'm confused since I k...Hmmm...I have to admit that I'm confused since I know the people involved. Do you think that perhaps it was the youth pastor's vehicle instead of Pastor C's vehicle? Not that it changes it much, but I *can* see teenagers pulling a silly prank and putting "Sexy pastor" much like they would put "Sexy driver," without a thought.

I don't think it has much to do with the kind of relationship this "Sexy Pastor" has with the children.

I will say, however, that at this particular church, the dynamic of the youth group is very different than it is at your home church. I was in CCD classes as well as in the youth group at the church you're talking about. At the church where Little Man goes to daycare, drums were blasted during the service...youth pastors played basketball with us till midnight...and met us at the door with a friendly, "HEY GIRL! WHAZZZZZUPPPPPP?!?!"

I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I don't think the words shoe polished are appropriate, I don't think it should reflect on the pastor or his/her relationship with the teens because more than likely, he/she hadn't seen it yet and probably didn't request it be put on their car. The kids were probably just fooling around with a youth pastor that they see as a "friend." Is seeing your youth pastor that way such a bad thing?Megnificenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11027432089978474398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6766456357437110766.post-65348733306834200262008-06-13T21:26:00.000-05:002008-06-13T21:26:00.000-05:00I think that is totally unacceptable.
